A selection of work from the group show “Skull & Sword” currently on display at FFDG in San Francisco, California. Skull & Sword is the world famous tattoo shop and this show is a collection of work by Skull & Sword tattooers Grime, Henry Lewis, Lango and Yutaro. In 2009 I took a trip to San Francisco and had a chance to go to Skull & Sword. Thanks to the art on the walls and the artists there I was inspired to devote this blog completely to art. So, thanks Skull & Sword!

Cette monographie tend à présenter le travail de peinture de l’artiste mais aussi sa démarche au travers de la publication de dessins préparatoires dans un deuxième cahier. Les textes de Judicaël Lavrador et Charlotte Poisson mettent en lumière la relation que Johann Rivat entretient avec la peinture et son histoire, la place du paysage et de l’architecture, l’étrange statut des personnages également.
Biographie: Johann Rivat est né en 1981, il vit et travaille à Grenoble. Il a fait ses études à l’École des beaux-arts de Lyon, puis de Grenoble (dont il est diplômé en 2008) ainsi qu’au département Art de l’université de Shanghai. Son travail est régulièrement exposé en France et à l’étranger.
This monograph tends to present the work of painting of the artist but also his step through the publication of preparatory drawings in a second book. The texts of Judicaël Lavrador and Charlotte Poisson clarify the relation that Johann Rivat maintains with painting and his history, the place of the landscape and architecture, the strange statute of the characters also.
Biography: Johann Rivat was born in 1981, he lives and works in Grenoble. He made his studies at the Fine arts school of Lyon, then of Grenoble (from which he’s graduate in 2008) like at the Art department of the university of Shanghai. His work is regularly exposed in France and abroad.
